Clear age rules and verified guardian approval.
XYSHIMA is designed for students, so age, guardian authorisation, privacy and AI transparency are treated as product requirements rather than hidden legal text.
1. Age rules
XYSHIMA does not currently permit an independent account for a user under 14. Users aged 14โ17 must provide a parent or legal guardian email address. The student cannot enter the study workspace merely by checking a box: XYSHIMA sends the guardian a separate, expiring approval link so the guardian can review and actively approve the account terms. Users aged 18 or older may create their own account.
2. Guardian approval of account terms
For a 14โ17 account, the guardian approval page requires the guardian to confirm their role, provide their name, authorise the student's account, review and agree to the Terms of Service, and acknowledge the Privacy Notice, AI Transparency Notice and Cookie Notice. The approval is recorded separately from the student's own acceptance record.
The approval link is one-time, token-protected and time-limited. Reissuing an approval email invalidates the previous pending link. XYSHIMA stores a cryptographic hash of the approval token rather than the usable token itself.
3. Paid subscriptions for minors
A paid XYSHIMA subscription for a user under 18 requires a second, purchase-specific guardian approval. Before PayPal checkout can begin, the guardian must independently approve the exact monthly or annual plan, recurring price, automatic renewal, the Cancellation & Refund Policy, immediate start of paid access and the relevant Terms. The student's own checkout acknowledgements are still required after the guardian approval.
A guardian's approval of the account does not automatically approve future purchases. A separate approval is required for the requested paid subscription. No payment is taken on the guardian approval page itself.
4. Privacy by default
XYSHIMA aims to collect only information reasonably needed to provide the learning service, maintain security, operate billing, document lawful guardian approvals and support users. Student learning profiles are used to personalise study actions, not for behavioural advertising.
5. AI and student decisions
AI-generated learning estimates are not official grades or school decisions. XYSHIMA does not use webcam, microphone, facial analysis or voice analysis to infer emotions for grading, discipline or educational performance decisions. See the AI Transparency Notice.
6. Reporting problems
Students can report an incorrect question, AI response, flashcard or technical problem from inside the application. Account-specific troubleshooting is also available through support@xyshima.com.
7. Parents and guardians
Parents and guardians should review the For Parents page, Terms of Service, Privacy Notice and Cancellation & Refund Policy. Guardian authorisation does not remove any mandatory rights that a child, parent or consumer may have under applicable law.
8. Country-specific requirements
Age and consent rules vary between countries. XYSHIMA's current product rule is deliberately conservative: no independent under-14 accounts and independent guardian approval for users aged 14โ17, with separate guardian approval for paid subscriptions. If a country requires stronger protections, those requirements take priority.
